This is the most difficult thing I've ever had to write.
Jace Sebastian Keller is dead. He was killed in an attack by Sentinels that were engaged in the unauthorized termination of two minors. He saved a woman's life in the attack but was unable to heal himself of the injuries he sustained.
I have spoken with Julian and Sofia Keller. They will be traveling to Graymalkin at the end of the week for the services. Funeral arrangements are being finalized but a memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15th for those of you who would like to attend.
If you feel that you require counseling, I will make sure that it is available but I can't talk about this right now. |

In light of recent events, I want to take the time to remind everyone how important it is to be aware of ourselves at all times. While it's unfair to suggest that everyone be under a constant state of paranoia and distrust, your personal safety is a legitimate issue. The Sentinel Project was reinstated to help mutants and humans alike. Unfortunately, we cannot be certain that this truly is the case. These machines have a history of being used in persecution instead of protection. It is my hope that these are truly for the betterment of our agenda but we cannot be too careful in that optimism, either.
I also would like to commend Christian, Jamie, and I cannot believe that I am saying this Sheridan on the way that they handled themselves in the face of an unpleasant situation. I recognize how difficult it is to hear and witness the prejudice and unjust things that happen just because we are 'different.'
I understand how frustrating it when it appears we are standing back and letting this happen. I assure you that I am frustrated as well. At this moment, I am discussion with several law professions and politicians who are attempting to draft a contest the ruling that favored the Sentinel Initiative. Anyone who would like to be involved in this endeavor, please let me know.
No, I don't want to talk about the flowers. No, I'm never coming out of my office again not even for training. This is mortifying. |

How did this happen? How did I miss something like this? After looking into the legislation of the new bill that passed, it looks like this was put through silently and quickly. Someone put a great deal of money into pushing this onto the docket. The more alarming part is that they did it three weeks ago which puts this right after the Brotherhood's last attacks. There's been no news media coverage about it until now, after they had their first fatality. I haven't been able to uncover the identity of the mutant that was killed in the attack nor have I been able to discern what caused the sentinel to use lethal force. The entire situation has been very censored for the public eye. I don't know who was behind it ultimately because the only signatures on the bill were from politicians who haven't been quiet about their stance on the x-gene or about the fact that they've been in favor of anti-mutant laws for years.
I want you all to be cautious out there. These sentinels are supposedly not programmed to bother civilians without reasonable doubt. We need to be aware of ourselves in the city and especially when we're on the job. That means you, Natalie.
Tana, when you have a moment I would like you to set your search parameters to some new designations so we might be able to find more information. There has to be something we're I'm missing. |

Our prisoner nuisance guest visitor is to be confined to her quarters when not in the presence of a proper escort. Tana has updated our security grid to reflect these changes but I would like Sheridan everyone to bear in mind this change in policy. I shouldn't have to point out that several parts of the complex are available to authorized parties only and bending the rules on this subject will not be tolerated.
[Locked to X-Men]
I know that many of your have already shared your thoughts on the matter with me and to one another. However, the time comes to make a decision. While none of us asked for a member of the Brotherhood to appear upon our doorstep, the fact remains that she is here now. We are the X-Men. Above all, we are dedicated to helping our own kind. Whether we approve of her or not, Sheridan Allerdyce has requested our assistance. She left the Brotherhood of her own power and was persecuted for that.
We have a decision to make. I can't believe I'm doing this. This is the right thing. I know it is. But why does it feel wrong? Do we allow her to stay in Graymalkin until she has had the time and energy to heal and make a decision about her life from this point forward? Do we give her the opportunity to remake herself as the X-Men had done numerous times in the past? Do we help her as she has asked of us? Or do we choose another path against the mission Xavier set forth for us?
We can turn her over to the authorities. Or to S.H.I.E.L.D. We can set her free without another word. But whatever decision we make, we have to live with that. It is not a decision that I will make without your input. So now I ask you all, what is to be done?

Thanks to the recent media coverage, the X-Men have gotten some good press. I think we needed it desperately to counteract the negative attention that mutantkind have been receiving lately. For those on the X-Men that heeded the emergency call, thank you. You all performed admirably under duress and I am exceedingly proud of you all. I'm grateful relieved pleased to say that Christian has recovered from his injury and will be rejoining practice next week once he's had a bit more time to recuperate. Thank you, Jace, for returning so promptly to assist.
Unfortunately, we didn't stop the most important target: the heist at the Federal Reserve. Based on information I managed to extract from Victor Shaw's cesspool of a brain, it seemed that the initial four sites hit were merely a distraction from the main event, as it were. Whatever they managed to lift from the interior, it has not made the news. No doubt that this was a decision based on the desire to avoid bad press. While it was unfortunate that we were unable to put an end to whatever plan Catapult has in place, I recognize that we were already stretched thin as it was.
I have no reason to believe that whatever Catapult and the Brotherhood are planning ended with that little show. We need to remain vigilant in the future and stay on top of things.
Now that Aliyah and I worked out the smaller hitches in the programs I'd been developing, there are now several new options for training simulations available in the Danger Room.

As much as everyone would like to believe otherwise, this isn't over. The Brotherhood have made Jeremy Allen a martyr. It's all over the news. There are candle light vigils and prayer sessions. The Church is issuing a statement condemning this as an act against humanity. The media is having a field day with this. The truce is over and we're not backing down to them. Not after this.
We've no choice but to expand our own influence. I've scheduled a meeting with Dr. Henry McCoy later this week and I'm taking Peter Jr. I hope that's not a mistake. This situation could easily turn volatile if we are not careful. We're exposing them. The camps. The brainwashing. All of it. There's no other option.

What happened at the Brewhouse should not have happened. We should have been able to respond faster to the attack and helped people before anyone ended up in the hospital.
I don't know if anyone's caught the news. Reverend Jeremy Allen is going to be speaking in the Civic Auditorium downtown this week. Not only that but it appears that he will be performing a miracle in front of live television cameras and administering the cure for the first time in front of anyone other than his Inner Circle. This is a momentous occasion and I feel like we should have a presence there if only to be certain that we are able to keep an eye on this and that the mutant in the demonstration is not there against his or her will. This means that they are still using the cure. We haven't seen any new reports of missing mutants not since Mendoza was killed but that doesn't mean it's not still happening. They might have gotten more discrete - which should be somewhat alarming in its own right.
Jamie, this might be the time to catch Mr. Allen for our discussion. Maybe after the rally we can make an impromptu appointment in his office? Lucas, I would like to have you along for this one as the situation requires a few cooler heads to make our point without causing a larger scene than necessary. The may be the only chance we have to settle this without violence and I'd like to make the most of it even if it may be entirely futile.
I would like to remind everyone leaving the state with the worst timing possible because clearly there's no sense of responsibility from certain parties for Spring Break that they should remember to request leave from training via the forms available to do so.
And Natalie, please remember that you have your next training session with me Sunday afternoon. Please don't be tardy this time or else you're going to have to learn your lesson the hard way. |

I think everyone's heard about the situation with the Church by now. This isn't something we should be celebrating, even if they are the enemy. It's already sparked a new round of debate with the anti-mutant sector. I've been monitoring a few of the forums for the SF region and the results are not favorable in the political arena. Whomever is responsible for this, it hasn't done the mutant community any favors. Even if Catapult won't admit it. This can only escalate into something worse if we don't take action soon.
I believe it's time we scheduled a meeting with Jeremy Allen. |

Training schedules are posted for the next week. I expect you all to be mature enough to attend, no matter how may protestations about the earliness of your slotted time. Yes, that does mean you, Jason. And no, water ballon fights do not count as Danger Room exercise. As since we are on the subject, I will remind everyone that they will be present for group training tomorrow morning. We have a number of exercises to get through and tardiness or drunkeness and I'm looking at you Aiden will not be tolerated. Please remember that when you plan events during the week.
I don't want to replace the circuitry yet again in the simulator. Try to keep the destruction to a minimum. |
